Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney has been out of action since January 14, when he picked up a hamstring injury after scoring what proved to be the winner against Wigan Athletic.
He has missed seven games for United and also England's humbling in Seville at the hands of European champions Spain.
However, in the aftermath of the Red Devils' 4-1 FA Cup win at Derby County, Old Trafford gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that 'Roo' could be on the bench in midweek for the clash with Fulham, and should be ready to play against Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.
The wily Scot told the club's official website, "Wayne should be ready for Saturday's game against Blackburn, we're quite confident of that.
"He may have a slight chance of being fit for a place on the bench on Wednesday."
The news will come as a boost for United ahead of their trip to Italy to face Jose Mourinho's Inter in the Champions League next week.
Despite having spent over a month on the sidelines, Rooney has found the net 12 times in all competitions this term.
