Sir Alex Ferguson Laughs Off Inter's Referee Complaints

Fergie dismissed on sight his Nerazzurri counterpart's claims that the ref favoured the visiting side at the San Siro...

Inter and Manchester United played out a stalemate in the Champions League last 16 on Tuesday night, and Jose Mourinho was left fuming at referee Luis Medina Cantalejo's decision-making.

But Sir Alex Ferguson, speaking to the press after the game, refuted the Portuguese gaffer's protests and insisted that the match official had performed brilliantly.

When told of Mourinho's comments, the United manager said, "Is he serious? I saw a marvellous refereeing performance.

"The referee was not intimidated and Jose would have been hoping he was. But he was not intimidated. He was first class."

The Red Devils were the dominant side at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, yet for all their opportunities - most of which came through Cristiano Ronaldo - they left Italy goalless.

And Ferguson added, "There's a disappointment that we have not won the game but with our record at Old Trafford, we should have a great chance. I just hope it doesn't come back to bite us."
