Ryan Giggs: Manchester United 'Completely Outplayed' Inter

Although Giggs wanted an away goal in Milan, he's proud of United's positive performance...

Veteran Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has stated that he is delighted with the way his side performed in the San Siro against Inter on Tuesday evening.

The Red Devils were held to a 0-0 draw by Jose Mourinho's side, but they had numerous chances - a couple of golden ones falling to the Welshman himself - to score a crucial away goal in the first half.

Still, ‘Giggsy’ feels confident ahead of the Old Trafford return leg.

"It’s still a tricky tie and we would have liked to have scored that away goal," he told the Daily Mail. "However, if we perform like we did last night, then we’ll win at Old Trafford with our experience.

"Inter are a top side and they have goals in them. We'll have to defend well and make sure we put our chances away."

Lauding United's blistering start, he gushed, "We completely outplayed them in the first half. We knew they would come out strong in the second half, but we were still able to create chances.

"We played well throughout; we looked good on the ball and there was great movement within the team."

The big games keep coming for the Mancunians, with the League Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur looming.

Giggs added of the Wembley show-piece, "Everyone’s really looking forward to the final on Sunday and we all hope we can win the trophy."
