Sir Bobby Charlton is confident Manchester United can repeat last season's European success and sent out a warning to round of 16 opponents Internazionale...
Sir Bobby Charlton won the European Cup with Manchester United in 1968, scoring a brace in the final against Benfica. The 71-year-old was impressed with United's victory in Moscow last season and believes that they can win the Champions League again in 2009.
Their first hurdle will be Jose Mourinho's Inter in the round of 16, but Charlton insists the Red Devils will give the Nerazzuri plenty to worry about.
"It will be a difficult match-up. Everyone is there hoping to advance, to demonstrate their worth and therefore we'll have to work harder," he admitted.
"We have many young lads, capable of winning and if they play how they know to, then they will give anyone trouble."
Overall, the former Preston North End player and manager indicated that Manchester United had strength all over the pitch, listing off numerous players, before praising recently crowned FIFA Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo.
Thus, Charlton has given Inter yet another reminder that Manchester United will be an extremely tough test come the end of February.
