Ryan Giggs Confident Of Manchester United's Chances Against Arsenal

The Welsh midfielder believes the Red Devils can progress to the Champions League final if they repeat their first leg performance at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening...

Ryan Giggs feels that Manchester United can overcome Arsenal in the Champions League semi-final if they play as well as they did in the first-leg.

The Red Devils take a 1-0 lead to the Emirates Stadium for the second leg on Tuesday evening, although it might have been more had they capitalised on the numerous chances they created at Old Trafford last Wednesday.

Nevertheless, the former Wales international is certain that the holders will book their place in the final if they produce a repeat performance.

"If we play to the ability we did in the first half last week we will have no problems," Giggs is quoted as saying by The Sunday Sun.

"We went out to get the crowd going and play at a quick tempo. That is what we do when we are at our best.

"Arsenal are a top team and they are capable of scoring goals so we are under no illusions about how difficult this is going to be.

"But our form in Europe has been excellent and we are in a good position."

The 2009 PFA Player of the Year has warned his team-mates not to lose sight of exactly who their opponents are, insisting that they must keep it tight defensively.

“You have to look after Arsenal's quality players,” he said. “They have so many match-winners; [Cesc] Fabregas, [Emmanuel] Adebayor, [Theo] Walcott, [Robin] van Persie, if he is fit. The threat is obvious, so you have to try and nullify it.”
