The Reds duo believe they can overturn the World Club champions if they play at the same tempo which saw them thrash Real Madrid 4-0...
Javier Mascherano insists Liverpool can claw themselves back into the Premier League title race by claiming victory over Manchester United on Saturday.
The Merseyside outfit, who beat the Red Devils 2-1 at Anfield in September, can move to within four points of the league leaders if they do the double at Old Trafford.
The Argentina international admits that winning three points away at United is far from easy, and he is looking to their 4-0 thumping of Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday evening as inspiration.
"We have to go to Old Trafford and win so we will see what happens," Mascherano is quoted as saying in The Sun.
"But if we play like we did against Real, it will be difficult for any team to beat us. It was a fantastic display. We were pressing all the time and didn’t let them play."
Team-mate Dirk Kuyt is just as confident that Liverpool will give United a run for their money, as he believes the Reds tend to up their game in key fixtures.
"If we can beat Madrid 4-0, we at least have a chance at United," Kuyt affirmed.
"We have shown this year we can get good results against big opponents so, hopefully, we can do the same again."
