Fergie has declared that Roo is ready to return this week, albeit from the bench...
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will make the squad for Wednesday night's clash against Fulham after impressing Sir Alex Ferguson in training this week.
The England star has not featured at all for the Red Devils since January 14, when he tore his hamstring just eight minutes into the 1-0 win over Wigan Athletic.
It was initially expected that the 23-year-old would be saved for the weekend fixture against Blackburn Rovers, but Ferguson reckons he is ready to play some part against the Cottagers.
“The plan is for Wayne to be involved [against Fulham] and he will start on the bench,” the United manager said in The Times. “We have handled him in the right way. His performances [in training] have been excellent.”
If Rooney's reintroduction to the first team goes smoothly, he could be firing on all cylinders in time for the Champions League tie with Inter next week.
