Zoran Tosic Set For Manchester United Debut Against Derby County

Sources in Manchester report that Manchester United's recent signing Zoran Tosic may make his debut for the club in the second leg of the Carling Cup semi-final at Old Trafford tomorrow night.

United face Championship strugglers Derby County, who hold a shock 1-0 lead in the tie, and Sir Alex Ferguson may try and re-galvanise his team by shaking up selection.

The young Serb was not expected to feature for United until at least February, as the club's fitness staff went about building up his power and strength ready for the rigours of the physcially challenging Premier League. The 21-year-old has rejoiced in the nickname 'Bambi' in the past, due to his slight build.

However, with Nani struggling to recapture his good form of last year, local press reports in the North-West indicate that Tosic will be in line to wear the famous red shirt for the first time.

Meanwhile, Nani's days at Old Trafford could be numbered as rumours in Manchester grow that United are readying themselves to make a bid for Wigan Athletic's £20 million-rated winger Antonio Valencia.

Ferguson had previously indicated that signing Tosic and his fellow-countryman Adem Ljajic would be the extent of United's business this transfer window, but it now looks as though Real Madrid's interest in Valencia may mean that United bid sooner rather than later.

With Ryan Giggs now being seen as purely a central midfielder by Ferguson, the Scot is keen to add some cover for Cristiano Ronaldo to his squad. Valencia might well be the answer.
