Player Ratings: Bolton 0-1 Manchester United

BOLTON
Jaaskelainen: 6.5- Stood tall for Bolton today making numerous saves but failed to make the one that counted on Berbatov’s header at the death.
Samuel: 6.0- His great forward run and cross in the 57th minute almost set up Davies for the first goal of the match.
O’Brien: 6.5- The dependable defender won everything in the air today but went missing on Berbatov’s goal.
Cahill: 7.5- The former Aston Villa man did not put a wrong foot forward all afternoon and will be proud of his performance despite the loss.
Steinsson: 6.0- He made two great sliding tackles early in the match and managed to push forward on numerous occasions.
Taylor: 5.0- Was anonymous for long stretches of the match and when he did touch the ball it usually ended up on the foot of a Man Utd player.
Basham: 6.0- The youngster did extremely well today and did not look out of place.
Muamba: 6.0- Tested van der Sar with an absolute cracker from 30 yards.
Gardner: 6.0- Looked very lively in the early going but faded away drastically as the match progressed.
Davies: 6.0- Is usually a thorn in United’s side whenever the two teams meet and this afternoon was no different even though his nemesis Evra was out injured.
Makukula: 6.0- Made his Premier League debut after joining the club on loan from Benfica but looked fatigued after his physical battle with Vidic and had to be replaced in the 63rd minute.
SUBS: Obadeyi ( 63”) 6.0, Puygrenier (83”) NA
MANCHESTER UNITED
Van der Sar: 6.0- Was not called into action too often but made a great save on Muamba in the first half to keep a clean sheet.
O’Shea: 6.0- The make-shift left back did not make any glaring errors deputizing for Evra but did pick up a silly yellow card.
Evans: 7.0- Once again did an admirable job filling in for Rio Ferdinand and has a bright future ahead of him.
Vidic: 7.0- The sturdy Serbian defender is a rock at the back and today was no different today.
Neville: 6.0- The old warhorse put in a hard working shift this afternoon and will be pleased with the final result.
Fletcher: 6.0- The much improved Scottish midfielder was decent today but was replaced in the second half for a more veteran presence in the midfield.
Anderson: 6.0- Went close to picking up his first ever Premier League goal in the first half but was substituted with the match still hanging in the balance.
Carrick: 6.0- The smooth passing Englishman failed to provide much service to the strikers upfront but did battle well in the midfield trenches.
Ronaldo: 7.0- The newly anointed FIFA World Player of the Year was foiled three times by Jaaskelainen on set-pieces and was unable to find a goal today.
Tevez: 6.5- Passed a late fitness test to feature in the starting XI but forgot his shooting boots at home but did set up Berbatov’s winning goal.
Berbatov: 7.0- The Bulgarian did nothing all match until he popped up to find the winner at the death.
SUBS: Giggs (69”) 6.0, Scholes (69”) 6.0
